How To Find New Customers Using LinkedIn.Com
It is essential to gain new customers all of the time, and LinkedIn.com is the perfect place to find them. I will explain one way of finding possible targets in LinkedIn, even without a paid account. You should be able to at least gain the persons name and title. Sometimes you can go further outside of LinkedIn to find phone numbers and email addresses.
Let's start with the basics:
- Log into your LinkedIn.com account.
- In the search box, make sure it is set to People and search for a job title. In this example I will use training coordinator.
- Once the initial search is done we will want to break it down more. At this point, you may be looking for people just in your general area. For this example, we will use the Greater Detroit area. Go to the left side of your screen and change the location as necessary.
- Now we may want to grab someone from a specific company. In this example we will search for Kalitta Air. Scroll down to the Current Company section and enter Kalitta Air.
- Now if you look at your search you have found a target. In this example we don't have a name though and we want the name.
- Now copy the whole title. In this example "Training Coordinator/PRIA Administrator at Kalitta Air, LLC".
- Go to Google and put this in Google inside of Quotes. The actual name will come up in Google within the first few searches.
If you want further information on this person at this time, the fastest way is to then search for the last name in quotes and the company name. In this example I would use "Hinsman" Kalitta in a search. This will hopefully bring you an email address or file somewhere on the web with an email address or further info.
There are many more tricks once you have this information but this is a good start. Don't be surprised if you find a pdf file floating on the web with someone's email address and the lists of other people in the same industry at the same time. I've found that many organizations that do not know what they are doing post things like roll calls, or they place them somewhere on their web site and they get picked up by one of the search engines.
It's sort of scary how much information there is on people, even when they try to hide on the internet. This is just the first step but there are many more things you can do.
